Those February Blues...

The February Blues! In Ontario, Canada, it starts early with our local Wiarton Willie the Groundhog popping his head out of the frozen ground. It is said if he can't see his shadow, Spring will arrive early and if he does he is headed back underground for another six weeks. This year, it was a cloudy morning when he arose.

We certainly can not complain about the unusually warm winter we have had so far in this neck of the woods, but for those who love hunting for antiques, Spring can't arrive soon enough. Warm sunny weather just goes hand-in-hand with roaming the countryside looking for treasures.

 In anticipation of the annual "blahs", many of the local antiques malls host February sales with great discounts. For the antique dealer, this is a great opportunity to move out some old stock and raise revenue to purchase fresh. For the antiques enthusiast and collector, there are opportunities to buy a wide variety of items with great mark-downs. As a dealer, I know that not every item is evaluated prior to a booth's blanket discount, so for those who like to treasure hunt, game on!
